The standard and evidence-based clinical guideline “Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment” has been added to the Center's Register of Medical Technological Documents https://www.dec.gov.ua/mtd/demencziyi-ta-legki-kognityvni-rozlady/.
The documents contain diagnostic markers, as well as key recommendations, taking into account the best world practices, for the treatment and monitoring of patients.
Currently there are no methods that can cure dementia. At the same time, measures are proposed to improve cognitive, non-cognitive, emotional and other specific disorders through non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions, which can have a qualitative impact on the lives of patients and their caregivers.
The development team included specialists of the Center who provided informational and methodological support. The version of the clinical guideline of the German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (2023) was chosen as the basis, as an example of best practice in providing medical care to patients with dementia and LKR syndrome.
The clinical guideline concerns such nosologies as Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia (FTD), dementia in Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and mixed forms of dementia.
It is intended to help the physician and the patient, as well as those who care for the patient, in making rational decisions about their management. It also serves as informational support for improving the quality of clinical practice and the effectiveness of using certain medical technologies, medicinal products, and organizational measures.
