On 29 June 2023, the Pharmaceutical Forum “Clinical Trials in Ukraine. European Integration” took place in Kyiv.
The event is organized by the State Enterprise “State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” in cooperation with the limited liability company “UkrKomExpo” and the Ukrainian Association of Clinical Research, with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and with the participation of partners: MSD Ukraine LLC, Arensia Exploratory Medicine Ukraine LLC, Farmak JSC, PJSC SIC “Borshchahivskyi CPP”, InterChem LLC, Kusum Pharm LLC, Pfizer Ukraine LLC, AstraZeneca Ukraine LLC, Sanofi-Aventis Ukraine LLC, Arterium Corporation, Lekhim JSC, with the informational support of the European Business Association and the publications: “APTEKA Weekly”, “Ukrainian Medical Journal”, “The Pharma Media” and the Pharmaceutical Journal.
The forum aimed to discuss current issues of optimizing clinical trials in Ukraine, further integration of the sector into the best European and global standards in order to strengthen cooperation at all stages of organizing and conducting CTs, increase international trust, and increase the number of high-quality CTs in Ukraine, taking into account GCP requirements and international ethical principles for protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of trial subjects.
The main focus was on Ukraine's valuable experience as a factor in developing innovative potential in conducting clinical trials.
In total, more than 400 participants took part in the event (310 in person, 87 online). In addition, about 500 more people watched the broadcast of the Forum (of them, 141 registered for the joint session, 340 on YouTube).
Speakers and guests include representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, clinical trial sponsors, applicants and their representatives, medicinal product manufacturers, medical and pharmaceutical professionals, the scientific community, clinical investigators, members of ethics committees, members of professional associations and public unions – in total, representatives of about 100 companies and institutions. The forum received strong support from international partners – heads of the regulatory authorities of Poland and Sweden and leading foreign industry experts from Sweden, Poland, Canada, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Belgium took part.
The Forum program included a plenary session, panel discussions, and a joint section of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of Clinical Research.

Based on the results of the Forum, the participants’ proposals were included in the Forum Resolution (1 MB) (Downloaded: 10.07.2023 13:01:33) adopted by a majority of votes
The main message, repeatedly voiced during the stakeholders' speeches, is extremely important: despite the extremely difficult conditions of war, Ukraine's clinical research sector has demonstrated its resilience. Ukraine has been and remains a country with great potential for conducting clinical trials.
Therefore, in addition to the Resolution, an Appeal (297 KB) (Downloaded: 10.07.2023 13:02:21) (Call to action (201 KB) (Downloaded: 10.07.2023 13:02:39)) was prepared, addressed to the global research community and the global clinical trials market, calling for restoring screening capabilities in ongoing clinical trials and involving Ukraine in new studies.
