Mykhailo Babenko, Director of the Center, together with the heads of structural units, took part in an event dedicated to the 8th anniversary of the SAFEMed project “Safe, Affordable, and Effective Medicines for Ukrainians” in Ukraine.
During the panel discussion on pharmaceutical regulation reforms, Mykhailo Babenko emphasized that SAFEMed is a long-standing and reliable partner of the Center, and the years of cooperation have yielded tangible results:
- a health technology assessment (HTA) system has been created and integrated into healthcare in Ukraine;
- hospital HTA is actively developing – pilots on horizon scanning and hospital HTA have been implemented (at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery);
- a team of experts and a legislative framework have been prepared;
- dozens of trainings and educational programs have been conducted;
- 139 state HTA conclusions have been prepared and published. Of these, 116 contain recommendations for inclusion in state procurement.
“I would like to once again sincerely thank our colleagues from the SAFEMed project – we have always worked side by side. We hope the project will continue. This will allow us to implement even more important and modern global practices that will help improve our patients' access to effective and safe medicinal products,” said Mykhailo Babenko.
