Representatives of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine took part in the international conference Vitalis 2026 (Gothenburg, Sweden) – one of the key European events in the field of digital transformation of healthcare.

The Center was represented by Deputy Director Mykhailo Pasichnyk and Director of the Department of Conformity Assessment Andrii Kuzo.

Vitalis is a large-scale international platform that annually brings together representatives of the public sector, regulatory authorities, the medical community, technology companies, researchers and developers of digital solutions from around the world.

The conference was dedicated to modern approaches to the development of healthcare systems:

  • implementation of digital technologies
  • work with medical data
  • application of artificial intelligence
  • crisis management and patient-oriented models of medical care.

Over four days, participants discussed practical cases of the application of modern digital solutions and AI in medicine. One of the key messages of the conference was that artificial intelligence is already part of the modern healthcare system and directly influences:

  • clinical decision-making
  • diagnosis
  • choice of treatment tactics.

The focus of discussions was the safety and effectiveness of AI solutions, their conformity assessment and state regulation. The European Union is already shaping new rules through the AI Act and the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), defining clear requirements for medical software and digital medical technologies.

For Ukraine, participation in such events is an important opportunity to gain current global experience, develop expertise in the field of digital medical technologies and synchronize approaches with the European regulatory system.
