The Center recommends including pembrolizumab in the lists of medicinal products procured with state funds using the managed entry agreement procedure – a conclusion from the state health technology assessment has been published. The recommendation concerns patients with persistent, recurrent metastatic cervical cancer (cervical cancer) whose tumors express PD-L1 (CPS ≥1), confirmed by a validated test.

Why is this important for patients?

Cervical cancer is a global healthcare problem and ranks fourth worldwide among the most common malignant tumors in women. In Ukraine, cervical cancer ranks second in the structure of cancer incidence and mortality among the female population of reproductive age.

What is the clinical advantage?

According to the results of the randomized clinical trial KEYNOTE-826, publication Lorusso et al., 2025, the use of pembrolizumab provides a significant prolongation of overall survival and progression-free survival in patients with persistent, recurrent metastatic cervical cancer whose tumors express PD-L1 (CPS ≥1), as confirmed by a validated test. It was established that the risk of death, as well as the risk of progression, with the use of pembrolizumab in combination with chemotherapy decreased by 39% compared with the use of chemotherapy alone in the study population.
