The State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has begun preparations for the implementation of a new area of activity – assessment of the impact on human health of vitamins, minerals and other substances used in dietary supplements.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 20 February 2026, No. 219, the State Expert Center was designated as the institution responsible for conducting such an assessment based on dossier materials submitted by market operators.
Deputy Director for Legal Affairs of the Center Hanna Husieva spoke about the preparations for launching the new mechanism during the online event "Regulatory Dialogue 4.0. Dietary Supplement Market: Notification Practice, Laboratory Control and the New Regulatory Reality", which brought together representatives of state authorities, the expert community and business.
During the dialogue, representatives of the Center spoke about the Center's role in the new regulatory system, the main principles of conducting the assessment of the impact on human health and approaches to its scientific and expert support. Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of implementing the new area of activity and its importance for ensuring an appropriate level of safety of dietary supplements.
Together with representatives of the professional community, practical issues of the future procedure for interaction with the Center were also discussed. Particular attention was paid to the first results of the functioning of the new system for regulating the dietary supplements market, the practice of their notification, issues of laboratory control and customs clearance, as well as current challenges for market operators.
The Center emphasized the importance of open professional dialogue for the effective implementation of the new regulatory mechanism.
The Center is currently preparing to launch this area of activity. In particular, IT processes required for the assessment are being configured, and financial and economic cost calculations are being carried out.
