The State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine continues systematic interaction with patient organizations regarding access to medicinal products needed by patients but currently unavailable in Ukraine.

Since April 2026 the Center, together with the "Patients of Ukraine" Charitable Foundation, holds monthly meetings with the participation of 12 public and charitable organizations working to protect the interests of patients with rare and severe diseases. This format allows for regular discussion of patients' specific needs, communicating them to pharmaceutical companies and potential applicants, and tracking further steps toward state registration of the relevant medicinal products in Ukraine.

This concerns, in particular, products for the treatment of Wilson–Konovalov disease, epilepsy, pulmonary hypertension, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, multiple sclerosis, pediatric oncological diseases and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Ongoing communication is already yielding concrete results. As of today, two medicinal products for the treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria and autoimmune connective tissue diseases have received state registration.

Two more medicinal products have undergone expert evaluation at the Center, and the conclusions have been submitted to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for registration. These are products for the treatment of epilepsy, in particular Dravet syndrome, and Wilson–Konovalov disease. A specialized expert evaluation of medicinal products for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension is also ongoing at the Center.

During the next meeting, particular attention was paid to the availability of pediatric medicinal forms for patients with epilepsy. This issue remains one of the most pressing, so the participants discussed further steps to resolve it.

Representatives of the pharmaceutical market are also joining the interaction. Some companies have already begun exploring the possibility of state registration of the relevant medicinal products in Ukraine. The Center continues communication both with companies that have already started this process and with potential applicants who are only considering entering the Ukrainian market.

Regular meetings make it possible not only to identify the current needs of patients but also to translate them into concrete steps — from communication with potential applicants to support of the relevant registration procedures.

The Center will continue to strengthen interaction between the patient community and the pharmaceutical market, helping to ensure that patients' needs are taken into account when forming proposals for medicinal products and expanding access to the necessary treatment.
