The State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine continues to develop cooperation with higher education institutions and to introduce students to the practical aspects of work in the field of medicinal product regulation.
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Center and O.O. Bohomolets National Medical University, the Center's Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory was visited by students of the interuniversity summer school in the specialties "Biotechnology and Bioengineering" and "Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy".
For future professionals, this was an opportunity to see how the medicinal product quality control system works in practice, to become familiar with modern methods of analysis in accordance with international requirements, and also to learn more about certain aspects of the production of medicinal products and biotechnological products in Ukraine.
Today, the Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory of the State Expert Center performs quality control of medicinal products submitted for state registration, as well as post-registration control during circulation. The Laboratory is the only one in Ukraine that performs expert quality control of immunobiological preparations, and the first among Ukrainian laboratories to have successfully passed prequalification by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Every year, the Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory conducts about 1000 high-tech studies, the results of which confirm the quality, safety and efficacy of medicinal products and vaccines on the domestic market.
The tour of the laboratory was conducted by its head Oleksandr Burmaka and his deputy Oleksandr Makushenko. The students became acquainted with the work of the laboratory's divisions, modern equipment and the testing methods used during expert evaluation.
During the meeting, the Director of the State Expert Center, Edem Adamanov, and the Deputy Director for Registration, Pharmacovigilance and Audit, Olena Semenchenko, also spoke with the students about the Center's role in the healthcare system, current challenges of the pharmaceutical industry and promising areas of professional development.
The State Expert Center is convinced that introducing students to the practical side of the industry's work while they are still studying helps shape a new generation of professionals who will subsequently work on the development of Ukraine's healthcare system.
