About 15-20% of breast cancer cases are the HER2+ subtype, which has a more aggressive course and requires modern targeted therapy. That is why access to innovative treatment in such cases is critically important.

Based on the results of the state health technology assessment (HTA), the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine recommends considering the possibility of conducting negotiations on concluding managed access agreements (MAAs) for the medicinal product trastuzumab deruxtecan.

The medicinal product is used as second-line and subsequent therapy for the treatment of patients with unresectable or metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer who have previously received one or more regimens of anti-HER2 medicinal products.

Based on the results of the analysis of clinical efficacy, it was established that the use of trastuzumab deruxtecan, compared with the standard therapy regimen (trastuzumab + capecitabine):

  • prolongs progression-free survival and reduces the risk of progression or death by more than 81%;
  • reduces the risk of mortality by 55,8%.

The obtained results indicate the significant potential of the medicinal product in its effect on prolonging the life expectancy and quality of life of patients.
