Strengthening clinical trials in oncology, introducing innovations and expanding patients' access to modern treatment – such prospects are opened by the cooperation of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Cancer Institute within the framework of a new Memorandum.

"It is important for the State Expert Center that regulatory decisions rely on a strong scientific basis and the practical experience of doctors. That is why we are strengthening cooperation with the National Cancer Institute. This will make it possible to develop clinical trials, introduce modern standards of treatment and strengthen the pharmacovigilance system, so that innovations become available to Ukrainian patients more quickly," emphasized Edem Adamanov.

The Memorandum defines key areas of cooperation, in particular:

  • involving the Institute's specialists in the expert evaluation of registration materials for medicinal products, clinical trial materials, health technology assessment, as well as the preparation of expert and advisory conclusions;
  • development of clinical trials in the field of oncology;
  • implementation of the principles of evidence-based medicine and improvement of clinical guidelines, standards of medical care and treatment protocols in accordance with international recommendations;
  • development of the pharmacovigilance system, safety monitoring and risk management of medicinal products;
  • development of digital solutions in the field of oncology care, in particular information exchange, use of electronic systems and registries.

The parties will pay particular attention to the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects, engagement of international expertise and development of partnerships.

Cooperation between the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Cancer Institute will strengthen the implementation of the National Strategy for Cancer Control until 2030 and the development of modern oncology care in Ukraine.

Let us recall that the National Cancer Institute is the leading oncology institution of Ukraine, which provides comprehensive medical care, implements modern treatment methods and takes an active part in the development of clinical trials.
