On 8 December, the head of the State Expert Center together with the heads of the Center's specialized departments held a working online meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, USAID, and SAFEMed. Those present discussed a number of strategic measures to optimize the regulatory system in the pharmaceutical sector.
“Together with colleagues from the American Chamber of Commerce, we reached agreement on the importance of digitalizing all of the Center's processes. I also support and will promote the full-scale implementation of health technology assessment in Ukraine, the aim of which is to select the most optimal medicinal products and medical technologies for patients,” – commented Mykhailo Babenko.
During the meeting, the experts discussed key priorities on the path to positive changes in the health care system:
- introduction of health technology assessment (HTA) and comprehensive support for this area;
- proper implementation of managed entry agreements (MEA);
- improving the regulatory framework and bringing it as close as possible to European legislative standards in the pharmaceutical sphere;
- implementation of electronic mechanisms for the registration of medicinal products;
- issues of cooperation on bioequivalence and others.
The parties agreed that the improvement of processes, the introduction of new areas of the Center's activity, and further cooperation with international partners will contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical sector and the healthcare system in Ukraine.
