Last week in Warsaw, a meeting took place between the Center's management, Director Mykhailo Babenko and Deputy Director Yevheniia Tkachenko, and the president of one of the largest European institutions engaged in the assessment and tariff-setting of medical technologies – Doctor, Professor Roman Topór-Mądry.

The parties met to discuss current issues and prospects for the development of HTA in Ukraine.

During the event, representatives of the Polish Agency spoke about the HTA system in Poland, its legal regulation, structure and statutory tasks, areas of authority, role in the country's healthcare system, and decision-making algorithms.

“The meeting in Warsaw opened up to me genuine European prospects for the development of health technology assessment. While today in Ukraine HTA is carried out for medicinal products, and HTA for medical devices and hospital HTA are being actively developed, the areas of authority of the Polish Agency number about twenty. These include health technology assessment for medicinal products, dietary supplements, medical devices and services, issuing opinions on projects in the field of health care, clinical guidelines, reimbursement issues, pricing… All efforts are aimed at helping the state formulate a safe, effective, patient-centered and cost-effective health care policy. They are truly great people and are ready to share their experience, so our cooperation will continue,” – Mykhailo Babenko commented on the meeting in Warsaw.
