Despite the war, the number of approved sectoral standards of medical care in 2022 doubled compared to the previous year – the Center reported on its achievements in the standardization of medical care over the year.

As the leading organization in the development of medical technological documents on the standardization of medical care, and of draft regulations on medical, including pharmaceutical, services and on pharmacovigilance, the Center informs about the approvals in 2022:

  • 19 new medical standards (in the previous year – 5);
  • 11 unified clinical protocols (last year – 13);
  • 26 new clinical guidelines (excluding amendments to existing ones) – in the previous year 10.
  • 36 updated pharmacist protocols for dispensing medicinal products.

The largest number of sectoral standards was approved for the treatment and prevention of diseases in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, otolaryngology, neurology (including stroke), oncology (“Laryngeal cancer”, “Kidney cancer”, “Osteosarcoma”, “Chronic lymphoid leukemia”, etc.), neonatology and pediatrics, and treatment of patients with HIV and tuberculosis. New modern standards for emergency medical care and the use of rational antibiotic therapy have been approved.

In order to improve the provision of medical care to patients with Covid-19:

  • amendments were made twice to the current Standards of Medical Care “Coronavirus disease”;
  • amendments have been made to the protocol “Provision of medical care for the treatment of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)”;
  • ongoing work was carried out on updating the clinical guideline “Clinical management of patients with COVID-19”.

Currently, another 8 draft medical technological documents are at the final approval stage at the MoH. These include, in particular, those on the treatment of adult patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, Gaucher disease, hereditary angioedema (immunology), and Ménière’s disease.

“Despite a year that was critically difficult for the health care system, it was a fruitful period in the development of new and the updating of existing sector standards,” said Oksana Hulenko, Head of the Medical Care Standardization Department of the Center. “Through the efforts of the best specialists in medical science and practice, the most modern approaches to the treatment and prevention of many diseases have been found.”

Let us recall that the qualitative feature of all modern medical technological documents is that they are developed:

  • based on the principles of evidence-based medicine and best European practices;
  • by multidisciplinary working groups with the involvement of representatives of all relevant specialties;
  • with the inclusion of quality indicators that can be used to assess the effectiveness of the medical care provided over a given period.
