The Center held a health technology assessment training seminar – the first of its kind within the training events of the Agency for Methodological and Scientific-Practical Work of the State Expert Center
Participants included representatives of a number of leading pharmaceutical companies that are applicants and manufacturers of medicinal products, and stakeholders whose activities involve the use of the health technology assessment tool.
The event participants were welcomed by the Head of the Agency Oleksandr HUDZENKO. He presented the purpose, program and speakers of the seminar. He presented the Center's work as a provider of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the system of professional development, announced further training courses and encouraged participation.
The training was devoted to methodological approaches to conducting HTA as a tool for assessing the value of a medical technology.
Програму висвітлювали кваліфіковані та досвідчені фахівці Департаменту ОМТ та раціональної фармакотерапії Центру – директор Департаменту Ореста ПІНЯЖКО; начальник Відділу оцінки клінічної ефективності та безпеки медичних технологій Ірина РОМАНЕНКО; в.о. начальника Відділу оцінки економічної доцільності медичних технологій Валерія СЕРЕДЮК та експерти Відділу – Маргарита ХМЕЛЬОВСЬКА та Ілля ІОЛТУХОВСЬКИЙ.
During the seminar, attendees were able to:
- to obtain and update basic knowledge on the application of the HTA tool, the functions of HTA in the healthcare system, best practices in Ukraine and worldwide, the fundamentals of exemplary HTA and the basic HTA model;
- to learn the latest information on the stages of HTA implementation in Ukraine and the implementation of the Roadmap;
- to obtain and update knowledge and skills in conducting comparative analysis of clinical efficacy and safety and pharmacoeconomic analysis of medicinal products;
- practice the skills of preparing a dossier based on the methodological approaches and recommendations of the HTA guideline.
During the practical part of the seminar, participants practiced building a Markov model, used for cost-effectiveness analysis of medicinal products, using MS Excel. They discussed problematic issues and received professional clarifications and comments from the SEC speakers.
The course received favorable feedback – practically all participants noted the value of the knowledge gained and their readiness to use it in practice.
Summing up the training, Oleksandr HUDZENKO presented certificates, thanked participants for their activity and interest in the topic, stressed the importance of feedback to the State Expert Center Agency, and urged them to register for the upcoming training events.

- 26 June and 03 July – seminars on targeted audit of applicants' pharmacovigilance systems.
